Field note 01 / The game
What is Settler's Domain?
Settler's Domain is a single-player settlement strategy game about building in unknown lands. The official Steam description centers the game on keeping settlers alive while harvesting resources, constructing useful structures, exploring a procedural world, recruiting with Influence, researching a large tech tree, and dealing with other settlements.
This guide is organized around decisions a player can act on. It separates official facts from launch-sensitive details, avoids pretending that preview knowledge is final, and routes each common problem to a focused field guide. Start with the beginner path if you want a stable opening; use the resource, Influence, research, winter, and exploration pages when one system becomes the bottleneck.
Field note 02 / Core loop
A settlement is a chain of decisions, not a pile of buildings
Read the loop from left to right, then return to the start whenever growth changes demand.
- 01
Harvest
Collect the resources that keep the current settlement operating.
- 02
Build
Turn resources into structures with a defined survival or capacity job.
- 03
Explore
Reveal unknown land to find resources and other settlements.
- 04
Recruit
Use Influence only when food, medicine, housing, and useful work can support growth.
- 05
Research
Unlock structures that relieve a measured constraint.
- 06
Respond
Use diplomacy or hostility only after the release build clarifies the encounter.

Protect the loop that keeps settlers alive
The most important resource question is not "How much do I have?" It is "Which obligation does this stockpile support, and is the flow improving?" Food, medicine, and housing are named directly by Steam as population needs. Construction and exploration can improve the future, but they should not obscure a falling survival trend.

Unlock the answer to today's constraint
Steam promises a large technology tree and structures with different functions. Until the full release exposes the final nodes and costs, the durable strategy is bottleneck-first research. Name the limit, trace an unlock to a useful outcome, check whether you can afford the structure, and re-evaluate after it changes the settlement.

Reveal the map with a question in mind
Procedural maps make fixed directions unreliable. Explore because the settlement needs a resource, space, or information about another settlement. Stop when that question is answered, then decide whether the discovery can be supported. Encounter triggers, diplomacy outcomes, danger, and path costs still need full-release verification.
Field note 06 / Fast answers
Questions players need answered before launch
Every answer below states its evidence boundary so launch-day changes are easy to audit.
- Is Settler's Domain released?
- Not at the latest Aug 20 check. Steam still showed the game as unavailable with a planned Aug 21, 2026 release date.
- What should a beginner protect first?
- Keep food, medicine, and housing understandable before adding population or optional construction. Steam explicitly ties population growth to those needs.
- Does this guide publish exact build orders?
- Only when they can be verified. Costs, rates, tech prerequisites, and seasonal values remain marked for full-release verification.
- Is Steam Deck support confirmed?
- No verified Deck rating is visible on the official listing. The page currently publishes Windows requirements, so handheld compatibility remains unknown.
